Check MANTRICS 2.1 Requirements

Log In

Log in in MANTRICS from anywhere and at any time, typing ID and Password.

Admin

It gives a clear and quick overview about users, roles and used metadata.

  • Defined roles and authorized users for each workflow;
  • Assign access rights and decide which pages a user can visualize;
  • Create new projects and insert new users in the workflow giving them roles and access rights;
  • Defined roles and authorized users for each workflow;
  • Each role is called to perform a number of assigned actions;
  • Define configurations of metadata and attributes, according to given content categories;
  • Customize existing categories of metadata adding new attributes;
  • Add new customized categories of metadata.

Workflow

A powerful yet easy-to-use node diagram represents different workflows.

  • Ability to design and implement workflows;
  • Monitor each scheduled or running process;
  • Access to resources established by the system administrator through a powerful and versatile user management system;
  • Organize a complete list of bricks inside the Workflow page to implement a workflow, in order to trigger devices, applications and human resources;
  • Customize a brick by defining its parameters, such as fields, ports and colours, with the Brick Editor.

Key Bricks

  • Start defines the kind of content that will be ingested inside the workflow. By using the File basic info feature, the user may decide which transcoding software must be used to receive information about the file.
  • Watchfolder allows you to ingest contents quickly through a watchfolder.
  • Quality Control bricks manage the third party applications (or the MANTRICS QC) that are in charge of the Quality Control. These bricks ensure to have an accurate QC, with generation and automatic delivery of XML file report.
  • User Action prompts an operator to perform a specific action, such as review or visual QC.
  • Set Metadata adds up new metadata for a specific content.
  • Script allows you to create decisional bricks by scripting in the Script brick the connected actions. Python, JScript and Visual Basic are fully supported.
  • Sleep allows you to schedule a delay in the process.
  • Head & Tail adds material, such as headlines and credits, in head and in tail of the content in order to satisfy a conforming template.
  • Instance Switcher allows you to choose and submit the most appropriate instance to the operator, according to the workflow needs.
  • Send SMS or e-mail sends a report about the workflow status in real time via sms or via e-mail.
  • FTP sends the content to the desired destination. If the connection is not good and the FTP interrupts to send the content, it's possible to resume the upload or to define a grace period in which try again.
  • Transcoder triggers third party applications (MANTRICS Transcoder) that are in charge of Transcoding. The MANTRICS tool allows you to establish an inexpensive transcoding cluster in your studio.
  • Text recognition identifies and points out texts in the content;
  • Scene Change creates a clip for each scene change.
  • Fast Scene Change has the same function of the previous brick,optimised for sport events when the camera moves to follow the action (e.g. a football match).
  • MANTRICS QC recognizes black frames, out-of-focus or pixelated portions and still frames, creating an XML report about the QC.

To Do

This page reports about all the actions that need to be completed by users or user categories.

  • Prioritized materials from the most urgent to the less urgent;
  • Report about contents, according to access rights;
  • Update item histories through user actions, reports and extra notes.

Ingest List

The Ingest List page gives to the user the complete report of files that have to be ingested.

  • Different types of ingestions: from file, from tape and from cart machine, from live video and from directory (watchfolder);
  • Copy the original file into the HQ location or link the HQ instance to the original file location;
  • Delocalized ingest points;
  • Ingest a whole directory from the archive, at once and recursively, in order to scan and ingest all the files that are in the sub-folders;
  • Ingest tape traditionally by typing tape ID, Mark In and Mark Out and submitting it;
  • Program to record live video once, daily, weekly or continuously;
  • Possibility to make a delayed ingest, by adding metadata before having received instances or by reading a description contained inside an XML file.

VTR

Here you can manage the tape ingestion.

  • Create new materials and organize them typing the ID, describing the content, defining aspect ratio, video category and formats;
  • Content preview in low quality and in high quality with different resolutions;
  • Control the ingest status.

Catalog

In the Catalog you can make a quick content search through content categories and metadata.

  • List of results, based on the expressed preferences, provided with thumbnails and basic information about the content;
  • Customize thumbnails making contents recognizable at first look;
  • Immediate content preview by using the player;
  • Save searches making them either private or public;
  • Create album of contents in order to make easier future searches;
  • Make crossed searches through metadata;
  • The Details field lists all the information linked to the content, such as metadata, instances, auxiliary files, history of the asset;
  • Check the content quality on a short report about the Quality Control (QC) and examine failed steps;
  • Easy detailed QC report consultation;
  • Auxiliary data (e.g. licenses, storyboard, etc) may be linked to the contents in order to facilitate their appropriate use;
  • The Relationship tree feature recognizes and points out if a content has been used by other operators and conveys the connected metadata.

Edit List

Inside the Edit List you can create a rough editing of your contents.

  • An easy to use timeline composed by one video track, four audio tracks and one graphic track, allows user to put contents on the timeline, easily selecting a material and dragging and dropping it on the timeline;
  • Import audio track and still frames from Catalog;
  • Select the material directly from the edit list, by using a material browser;
  • Text insertion into the timeline by using a speech speed modulation;
  • Cursor bar allows to cut a content or move a segment as you prefer;
  • Trim clips, adding or removing blacks, bars and slants;
  • Send to the EDL Exporter in order to consolidate the project;
  • All the most important craft editing applications, such as Final Cut and Premiere, are supported;
  • Create an XML file to transmit all the required project information to the supported craft editing applications.

Clips

The Clips page allows users to create sub-materials of an asset (called clips), and add metadata quickly to the clip itself.

  • Log important actions inside the content, by hitting Capture;
  • Modify clip duration;
  • Suggestion of preset metadata, that match with the submitted material;
  • Mark In and Mark Out directly on the player, by clicking on Capture;
  • Use the Virtual Keyboards to add metadata quicker;
  • Content recognition and consequent suggestion of Virtual Keyboards;
  • You can use the Virtual Keyboard just clicking on it, and all the connected metadata will be added in the most appropriate fields;
  • Create your own Virtual Keyboard by using the Virtual Keyboard Editor Page.

Virtual Keyboard Editor

In this page you can create your own Virtual Keyboards according to your specific workflow needs.

  • Set a field of metadata, always modifiable, for each icon button of each Virtual Keyboard;
  • By creating a new keyboard, information are added to the metadata structures, improving the database performance;
  • Match an infinite number of Virtual Keyboards;
  • Metadata will be added in appropriate fields, avoiding misspell.

Logs

Logs page gives the historic view of the workflow from the very beginning. Every process is constantly monitored and tracked inside this page.

Log Listener gives you the ability to have a look from remote sites and have a report about what is going on. A Pop Up warns you about process bottlenecks. You can control the work flowing, or a single database, by using the Log Listener from any workstation.

Stats

In this page, MANTRICS shows statistics about materials and used hardware.

  • Processing time and waiting time are shown for each item;
  • Focus on the system bottlenecks;
  • A clear view of what is going on;
  • Help to predict the amount of time needed to complete all the tasks.
